VISION AND VALUES

Business and enterprise are at the heart of national growth and development, and this is reflected in the place that business education has within a Curriculum for  Excellence.
 
The ICT faculty offers opportunities for learners to develop the crucial skills and knowledge which will allow them to access, understand and contribute in a dynamic and complex business and enterprise environment.  
 
Being skilled in using ICT is essential if children and young people are to be effective contributors, and to communicate and interact on a global scale.  
 
Through the use of ICT as a learning and teaching tool, students overtake  Curriculum for Excellence Experiences & Outcomes from within a number of  curriculum areas:
  • Technologies - Using ICT to Enhance Learning; Business Contexts for Developing Technological Skills and Knowledge;
  • Social Studies – People in Society, Economy and Business; 
  •  Numeracy – Number, Money and Measure; Information Handling; 
  • Literacy – aspects of Listening, Talking, Reading and Writing – set within the contexts of other curriculum areas;
  • Health and Well-Being – Planning for Choices and Changes – set within themed ICT projects.
The faculty is committed to working collaboratively with colleagues across the curriculum areas to promote ICT skills development within diverse learning  contexts.  Students will benefit from inter-disciplinary learning experiences which will help them to make connections across the curriculum areas.  
 
Whatever the career pathway or progression route, business education enhances individual effectiveness and establishes firm foundations for lifelong learning and  for further specialist study and careers.
