Course Descriptions
S1-S3 BGE
Pupils enter S1 in Castlemilk High School with a mixed experience of drama. The practical course offered covers a broad range of Drama skills which are transferable to other areas of the curriculum and life. All pupils visit the department for 2 periods per week where the main thrust of Drama is group work, the emphasis being on co-operation and participation. All levels of ability are encouraged to respond in group and class work at their particular level.
The course starts with learning basic Drama skills e.g. role-play, movement, voice and mime. These are then used by pupils to explore a theme. We put emphasis on performance which we feel encourages pupils as they see an end product.
Pupils then extend and enhance the knowledge and applications of the Drama skills acquired in the first year. Script work and theatre arts are introduced which are used by the class to improve their presentations.
This practical course develops Drama skills, and allows pupils to learn to evaluate their own work and that of others.
