Department Aims:

Acknowledging the impact that computing and information technology has made on modern society and recognising the continuing and accelerating advances being made in the computing field, the Computer Studies Department acknowledges, the crucial importance of equipping our pupils with sufficient skills and understanding in the use of computers. This will better equip them to go out into this technological world and exploit whatever opportunities there are, in order to fulfill their own maximum potential.

 

To this end, the department will strive to provide the highest quality teaching and learning by:

  • producing courses that are relevant, appropriate and stimulating for the pupils.

  • delivering those courses in a professional and thoughtful way.

  • ensuring that all pupils benefit and gain maximum possible advantage from their time in the department.

  • ensuring that the available resources are utilised to maximum effect.

  • providing the pupils with transferable skills that can be utilised in other areas of their life, both at school, in all curricular areas and at home.

  • making pupils aware of the wider social and cultural implications of Information technology.
