 Here is the news from the week ending 25th September 2014.


  • The first Pupil Council Meetings of the year have taken place over the last two weeks with newly appointed captains and vice captains chairing and taking the minutes of the meetings.

  • An appeal from the Gardening Group to collect more 2 litre bottles for the bike shed again this year as well as old flower pots, large yoghurt pots and jams jars. They will be growing bulbs for sale at Christmas.

  • Two senior pupils made an appearance on Good Morning Britain in the run up to the Referendum in the company of St Margaret Marys  pupils. One of our pupils was then invited to appear on TV on Friday after the referendum in the Edinburgh studio.

  • Senior pupils attended Maths supported study on the in-service day!

  • Welcome to our students, Miss O’Neill (English) ,Miss Gallagher (History), Miss Shearer (Modern languages), Miss Gaffney (PE) and Miss Ford (Drama)

  • The senior pupils attended an excellent drama production this week in PSE time to increase their understanding on AIDS

  • The AGM of the Parent Council was held last Wednesday night. Mrs Reid has sent details of membership to you in a separate email. They have kindly donated £500 each to the Skiing trip and the Uganda Excursion and £100.00 to the pensioners’ Christmas hampers.

  • Mr Oberg attended the launch of the Newlands Junior College (NJC) this week. We are currently in discussion with NJC about some of our pupils.

  • An S3 pupil and Mrs King spoke at the Scottish Learning Festival today with a pupil and DHT from Kings Park .

  • Supported study has continued all week across a range of subjects.

  • Some of our pupils are involved in a kite launch celebration on Cathkin Braes today.

  • Talent Contest auditions continue and tickets are now on sale for £3 at registration and at lunchtime
