mini newround 28th February
Here is a mini newsround from the week ending 28th February.
· The external Practical Exams for Nat 5, In2 and Higher Music took place on Mon 24th and Tues 25th February. They went well with 100% pupil attendance.
· In S2 Enhanced Curriculum, class 2.5 have been working on a fundraising project for the Croft and held a competition to guess where treasure was buried on a map of Spain at lunch times in the social area. The winner was announced today as Mrs Orr.
· S1 and S3 Scientists had an amazing 3D “Body Works” experience this week delivered by two scientists from the Science Centre finding out about the human body and microbes.
· Gymnastic and cheerleading competitions – a group of gymnasts, S1- S3, competed on Thursday. They did not gain a place but showed lots of potential for the future. They are taking part in a cheerleading competition today.
· Miss McEwan was successful in her bid to the Youth Bank for a £500 grant – this money will help kit out the gymnasts.
· At assemblies this week pupils heard about young carers and how they can access local support
· Mr Ross and Mrs King attended a parents night at Kingspark on Monday evening with the pupils and their parents who will be part of the Outward bound/Scottish Power Trust residential week.
· Mrs Campbell, Mrs Stevenson and Mrs King, along with S2 girls Holly Richardson, Hayleigh Miller, Catherine Lawrence and Teighan McGlone, started training for a 5K run in aid of Breast Cancer. The girls will speak at assemblies to encourage more pupils to join up. Staff are welcome too.
· Supported study is taking place every night in school and Saturday mornings too as staff continue to do their very best for pupils in a very tight time frame.
