Here's the latest news from Castlemilk High.

·         S1 Enhanced Curriculum organised and held an EC Café on Tuesday to which all staff were invited to enjoy tea, coffee and Scottish produced biscuits and cakes rounded off with a game of bingo.

 

·         Gymnastic results for last week : The pupils finished 1st and 3rd at the gymnastic championships. Miss McEwan commented, “ We were absolutely over the moon as we have never placed at this event.”   The team who finished 1st will now represent Glasgow at the Scottish Schools Finals in Perth!.

 

·         The 3+ Higher Focus Group pupils started their one-to-one mentoring sessions this week  on the run up to the formal exams. ·          Two S5 pupils have been accepted for the ‘ Aspiring Professional Programme’  offered through the  Social Mobility Foundation.  This means that they will be supported  throughout their university years with experienced mentors providing advice and motivation

 

·         S3 attended a presentation called “Crush” on Tuesday followed by a workshop led by Baldy Bain Theatre Company.  The Baldy Bane Theatre Company were delighted with the behaviour and response of our S3 pupils.  They said “We should be proud of our S3”.   PTs PC are following this up with group discussions in PSE.  PTs PC will also show Crush DVD to S5/6 following on from input from Rosie Project

 

·         Mr Fraser has been taking photographs of the S6 for their year book over the last 2 weeks.

 

·         The SQA Practical Music Exams have been taking place this week. The pupils though very nervous have performed very well.

 

·         An outstanding S5 pupil was successful with her application for Space School 2015.

 

·         Mrs McCormack organised an opportunity for the following S3 pupils to  attend a workshop about working abroad with ‘Scotland goes Global’ on Thursday.

 

·         Mrs McKenna organised competitions and games in the library for pupils on World Book Day.

 

·         Mr Oberg and Mrs Yuile met with a range of potential business partners today to plan for next session’s timetabled wider achievement programme for S4.

 

·         The Race Night was held at the White Elephant on Merrylee Road to raise funds for Uganda.

 

·         Good luck to Miss McEwan on her last day today before starting maternity leave. Looking forward to hearing her baby news in a few weeks!
