Schools Health Summit Event – Thursday 14th June 2012

Pollokshields Burgh Hall

In 2010 all 30 secondary schools in Glasgow took part in a health and wellbeing survey which was commissioned by NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, with a total of 8,282 pupils (S1-S4) taking part in the survey. The aims of the study were to gather current information on the pupil population, gather data on key areas of health and gain an understanding to pupil perceptions of their health and wellbeing.

As a result of this survey, pupils from Castlemilk High will represent their school on 14th June 2012, at a South Health Summit. The summit will bring pupils together with key stakeholders in order to discuss and debate the key findings from the South report and agree an action plan to go forward.

A group of our S3 pupils have produced an article which highlights the successes of the school and suggests areas to further work on. The article will be included in a newspaper resource along with other secondary schools in the South. Overall the survey favoured our pupils well, indicating positive results for the health and wellbeing of Castelmilk High pupils.
