News from weekending 15th May 2015

 

·       Mr Ross and a group of S2 pupils below have been at Loch Eil all week as part of the  “Scottish Power - Skills for Scotland Project”   working alongside St Margaret Mary’s.
·       Miss Brown, the school chaplain, has accompanied a group of our most vulnerable pupils to Camas on Iona for the week. Miss Brown commented before they set off that one of the pupils had been a fantastic asset in the preparation for the trip. She has done a great job of sorting all the consent forms, and answering questions and keeping everyone informed with what they know.  She is a credit to the school. Amazing!
·       Castlemilk High School has been shortlisted for Junior Saltire 2015.  The final will consist of technical testing at the FloWave Ocean Energy Research Facility at the University of Edinburgh on Thursday 4 June 2015, followed by final judging at the Celebration of Engineering and Science at Glasgow Science Festival on Friday 5 June 2015. Beyonderand Mr Gillilandhave given outstanding support to the project and to the senior pupils involved.
·       Castlemilk High and Hillpark Secondary have been chosen to perform a gymnastics routine in front of the world championship audience at the Hydro in October.
·       Mr Munro’s S1 Enhanced Curriculum hosted their EC Café on Tuesday 12th May. All which all staff were invited for tea/coffee biscuit/cake and a game of bingo.
·       Mr Oberg’s S4 pupils on the WRAP Programme are off to a great start at GCU.
·       SQA exams and hot housing have been going very well. 
·       The shed is up and the foundations for the greenhouse have been laid
·       Money for Life challenge – although our senior team didn’t win, by reaching the final they gained a lot of publicity and of course the experience of taking part. 
·       The Princes Trust Group have had two industry experience days accompanied by Mrs McKenna and Mrs Morgan, which involved Hair and Beauty and then Hospitality.
·       Finally, Mrs King and Miss Hussain are running the 10K on Sunday 17th May. All the best!
