Here is a round up of the latest news from the week beginning 20th January,

·         Dean Thornton S3, has been put forward for the Diana Award with testimonials form Mrs Campbell (school), Mr Harkins (community football) and the Youth Bank where Dean as part of a committee decides on funding allocation to community groups.

 

·         The first parents meeting of the Uganda 2015 Humanitarian project was held on Monday night. The selected pupils are, Caroline McKinlay, Toni McKay, Jodie Laughland, Ayleigh Waters, Justine Clark, Courtney Convey, Jacob Arendarik and Michael McInarlin.  Mr Munro and Mrs Campbell and Libby will accompany the group in June 2015.  Ardenglen Housing Association are involved this time to support fund-raising and Fiona McGovern will represent her company on the trip.

 

 

·         The PE department was successful with their ’PE Glasgow bid’ and were awarded £1,000 towards the purchase of table tennis equipment.

 

·         This week Mrs King met with Scottish Business Class to discuss the results of a needs analysis which had been submitted a few months ago. The outcome was that we now have another business partner linked to the school. The partner is Glasgow Caledonian University who will be linked to CHS and StMMs offering direct support on pupil work experience and staff development for starters.

 

·         The National Cup U18s boys football quarter final has been organised for next Friday (31st of January) for which Sam Smith has been selected again. He has been selected for every game so far.

 

·         In honour of Rabbie Burn’s birthday, Friday 24th January saw a haggis lunch and Ceilidh dancing in the social area at lunch time today.

 

·         Our Young Ambassadors and two Sports Leaders have been selected by Laura and Chris Woodcock (Sports Leaders) to represent the school in a working group. This is to lead this year’s PEPASS Conference. The pupils involved are, Toni McKay, Chloe Watson, Shanice Adams and Lorne McGibbon .

 

·         The first years had an opportunity this week to make crepes in Elodie’s French Cookery class in the absence of the seniors.
