Mini newround Friday 21st February

Here is a mini newsround of all the news from the week ending 21st February:

·         The non-uniform day on Friday 7th February raised £322.40.

 

·         S3 and S2 BGE Science pupils attended Glasgow University’s presentation on “Zombie Science: Brain of the dead” in the social area on Monday, organised by Mr Shaw. Here, pupils were educated in Zombology and the function of the brain.

 

·         S4 pupils had a two day experience of university last Thursday and Friday with Focus West, organised by Mrs McLaughlin.

 

·         Lomond pupils organised a Valentine’s Day cake sale and card delivery raising £45 for the School’s outdoor centre.

 

·         The Higher Drama Acting Prelim on Thursday 20th February was a success, with a range of audiences present including “The Thistle Club”. There was an impromptu “drop- in” over lunchtime with the visitors from the Thistle Club who shared their experiences and knowledge of the Holocaust with pupils. The S2 pupils in particular were amazed at the experiences they heard about and equally the visitors were impressed by the pupil’s knowledge and the interest shown in their personal stories.

 

·         In Social Subjects, Mrs King had the pleasure of judging the S1 competition ‘Advertising Rome’ with the winning entry being a short play on gladiators performed by Billy Semple, Declan McFarlane, Arek Wolski  and Brendan Jamieson.

 

·         House Assemblies have all taken place this week with captains or other representatives giving updates on Pupil Council business and celebrating successes. 

 

·         Football results: S1 boys soccer 7’s won 3 drew 1 and lost 1.   Senior boys lost 4-3 against Holyrood.
