Purple Friday
In Scotland the 23rd February is Purple Friday and this year we plan to mark this at Castlemilk High School.
Purple Friday was first celebrated in Canada in 2010. Purple signifies the purple stripe on the LGBT rainbow flag which stands for spirit. In support of LGBT Youth Scotland we plan to mark the day in a number of ways including:
- Signing our own Rainbow flag
- Paying a donation of 50p if you chose to wear something purple to school to complement your school uniform
- Guessing the name of our LGBT mascot
This year’s theme focuses on the #EverydayHero – the person whose small gestures promote an inclusive atmosphere for LGBTI people. We very much hope that you will support Purple Friday and help us take a stand for equality and inclusion.
