World Gymnastics Championships Gymfest

Hundreds of Glasgow school pupils followed in the footsteps of the world's greatest gymnasts as they performed in the arena hosting the World Gymnastics Championships. Six hundred young people from the city's primary, secondary and Additional Support for Learning schools emulated their favourite gymnasts as they got the chance to show off their own skills at Glasgow's SSE Hydro.

Twenty-five Castlemilk High pupils spent months training hard for their grand performances at Glasgow Schools Gymfest, which was witnessed by around 1500 proud parents and carers. Pupils ranged from S1-S4 and came from dance, cheerleading and gymnastics backgrounds. They were coached by Louise Bradley, head coach at Glasgow Gymnastics Club, every Tuesday night. This year the event was extra special as the pupils performed their artistic gymnastics floor routines in the Hydro arena, the scene of the World Gymnastics Championships.
