 Here’s a snapshot of the week,

 

·         A group of S1-S3 pupils represented the school in this year’s Glasgow Schools Gymnastics Competition on Thursday 26th February.

 

·         Two S5 pupils were out of school on Monday attending a course at University of the West of Scotland as part of preparation for applying for degree courses in Education.

 

·         A range of classes experienced a ‘Digital Inclusion’ workshop arranged by Chrissie (OF Beyonder) using raspberry pies!

 

·         An S5 pupil has 2 conditional and one unconditional offer for university - very well deserved.

 

·         Welcome back to Fiona Scott, the Active School’s coordinator who has returned from maternity leave. She will be based in the Home Economics base on a Monday and Tuesday.

 

·         A group of 8 S6 pupils were out of school on today to attend a Campus visit at Glasgow University as part of their TOP UP programme.

 

·         An S4 pupil attended a training weekend in Largs last weekend with the Cerebral Palsy and Stroke SFA Football Team. He absolutely loved it. He received kit, had time with the physio, trained with the team and stayed overnight with the team. He has to go back at the end of the month.

 

·         A group of  S2 pupil attended  the workshop ‘SCARFED FOR LIFE ‘  addressing sectarianism on  Wednesday 25th February at the Youth Complex.

 

·         Three pupils took part in the UDO dance qualifiers at Holyrood. They achieved 2nd overall place and qualified for the finals later this year.

 

·         The girls Football team won all of their games on Tuesday 24th February at Toryglen

 

·         Miss Smith (Trainee Ed Psych) and Mrs Campbell introduced a Growth Mindset group on Thursday 26th February with a group of  S1 pupils.

 

·         Mr Oberg said ….”As the days get brighter and warmer, we gardeners of Castlemilk High are gearing up for the start of the growing season…… with 10 brand new raised beds, 16 fruit trees, a newly constructed rustic compost bin and the impending arrival of our green house, it promises to be a bumper year of locally sourced organically grown produce.

 I’ve been at lower school assemblies this week drumming up new recruits and we are having our first planning meeting of the year tomorrow – 26th   February after-school in the conference room at 3pm.  If you want to get involved in any way no matter how big or small, or are simply interested in learning more about what we are doing, please come along.”  

 

 

·         As a result of three pupils attending the Social Investment Scotland Social Insights event in Edinburgh their confidence is growing greatly and they are now very popular on social media! David Hunter from Moving Films came in to work with them over the February break and has helped them to create a music video for the social enterprise rap that they have written themselves. Indeed, two of these pupils have now been asked to perform their rap at the Awards Ceremony later this year in London.

 

·         The leaver’s hoodies have arrived.

 

·         Finally, we are delighted to announce that Miss White has been appointed as Teacher of Inclusion.
