New from the week ending 14th November 2014

An update of just some of the action from this week,

 

On Monday 10th November, Mrs Heffron and Mrs King accompanied our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award winners to the Royal Concert Hall where they were presented on stage with their awards. Many of their parents were there too. It was a fabulous setting for the pupils to receive their awards.

 

•There was a road safety presentation for S1 and S5/6 pupils in the Social Area on Monday delivered by 4 actors giving a strong message to the pupils.

 

•Miss McEwan accompanied the following S2/3 pupils to an indoor rowing competition on Wednesday 12th November. The boys also competed in the team challenge and finished 2nd overall!. We were only beaten by less than 100m by Holyrood.

 

•Mr Paterson accompanied the boys under 14’s football team to a Scottish Shield Cup match away to Gleniffer High School in Paisley on Monday after school. They were unsuccessful losing 5.1.

 

•Mr Boland’s senior Personal Development class delivered their drama production to Castleton and Miller Primary schools this week.

 

•Our figures for Positive Leavers Destinations are looking fantastic and will soon be announced by the authority and the government. Our figures show a Higher Education destination for each of our 15 pupils who left school last session. This is the highest number in the history of the school.

 

· The Focus West “Focus on 4” event was held on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th November.

 

· Mrs Rusk’s group of creative writers have submitted entries to the young writers national competition, and the Scottish book trust 50 word story competition.

 

•Mrs Stevenson and Mr Boland accompanied the Higher Drama group to the theatre on Wednesday 12th November to watch Whisky Galore.

 

•The gardeners group start some work today with a sessional worker from Urban Roots who will show them how to build raised beds and other things.

 

•The S5/6 parents evening was well attended Thursday 13th November 2014 .
