mini newsround week week ending 21st March.

Here's a mini-newround for the week ending 21st March 2014

  •  The following S1 boys took part in a football competition on Wed. Nathan McCrohon,  Brendon Jamieson, Ryan Kelly,  Ryan Whiteside, Connor Montgomery, Declan McFarlane, Ikenna Anunobi, Pierre Mayavo, Serhat Saban and Jack McGregor, S2. They didn’t qualify, but they did win every game on the Tuesday evening at Toryglen.
  •  Mrs Molloy and S1 and S2 pupils participated in a National Maths challenge on Monday 24th March. They were not the winners but enjoyed the experience mixing with mainly private schools and even arranged themselves as a study group over the weekend in preparation for the competition.
  • The S1-S3 girls Football team played a Glasgow Area Qualifier on Wednesday at Toryglen. The girls were, Sophie Allison  Caitlyn Coul, Rikki Collins, Taylor Campbell, Angela Gavan, Michaela Hardie, Hayley Miller. They didn’t qualify.
  •   The following pupils are took part in a French competition on Thursday, organised by the Institut Francais and supervised by Elodie.   Jade Gallacher, Michaela Hardie, Jodi Roberts, Pierette Mavayo, Hollie Kerr, Marcus Sherlock, David Arendarik,. Results not known yet.
  • Good news, both Cameron Hayes and Lewis Alum have been selected for the next stage of the under 14s football trials for the Glasgow Squad.

 

  • The S1 Numeracy Day went well with 6 business partners showcasing the relevance of numeracy in the world of work. S1 behaviour was excellent.
  • A  group of senior pupils became blood donors this week – organised by Mr Weir.
  • S1 Social Subjects had the opportunity this week to meet an asylum seeker from Afghanistan and find out about his life.
  • Mr Munro and Mrs Campbell visited Miller and Castleton Primaries this week gathering the information on the P7s directly from the P7 teachers.
  • Mr Hindson worked with a group of Miller P7 pupils combining poetry and filming as part of the Literacy transition work.
  • A second group of S3 attended the Fire Service experience this week, with the awards ceremony being held this morning being held this morning. Partick and parents will attend.
  •   Pastoral care staff continue to work very hard this week with parent /pupil interviews for senior options.
