Castlemilk Pupils lead tours at Doors Open Day
On Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September, a number of pupils from Castlemilk High and St Margaret Mary's were involved in storytelling at Castlemilk Stables, a historic building within the community. They worked with Kati Waitzmann of the Glasgow Storytelling Centre to research stories about the local area, visiting both the Mitchell Library and Castlemilk Stables to meet with local historians and experts on primary sources.

During the Doors Open Day tours, the pupils introduced their stories to visitors from all over the world. The stories were based loosely on facts from their research, but a great many were embellished by their own imaginations! After the  stories, visitors took a tour of the building, which has a fascinating past, having been used as stables for Cassiltoun House, a children's home for war evacuees, and a plant store for Glasgow City Council.

Information about the local area and Castlemilk Stables can be found here.

Well done to Melissa Tees, Shanice McCann, Nicole Syme, Louise Skinner, Kayleigh Bradley, Lauren Hutton, Chelsey Stewart and Stephanie Cochrane for working hard and throwing beanbags!
