mini newround week ending 6th June 2014

Here is a mini newround of all the events happening at Castlemilk High for the week ending 6th June 2014.

 ·         On Monday 2nd of June, Mr Gilliland and Mrs King attended the Trades House of Glasgow Craft Competition Awards Ceremony. WE are delighted that our pupils have been able to keep the long-standing tradition going of prize winners from CHS.

 ·         Our winning pupils are:

 

o    Carly Bradley – 2nd Prize Int. 2 Woodworking Skills

o    Gavin Hinde – Commended Int. 2 Woodworking Skills

o    Demi-Leigh Paul – Commended Nat. 5 Design and Manufacture.

 

 

·         PE was the last of the SQA Exams on Monday following Saturday and Sunday hot-housing with Laura. The attendance over the exam period was excellent (apart from one pupil opting to go on holiday).

 

·         S4 Drama pupils attended an Animal Farm production with Mrs Stevenson and Mr Boland on Thursday 5th June, which featured former pupil James Aidens.

.

·         The Manchester United Excursion took place Monday 2nd – Wednesday 4th June. The pupils had a first class experience bringing back trophies and lots of memorabilia.

 

·         A group of S3 pupils involved in a ‘Gifted and Talented’ experience to boost their confidence and aspirations were out of school 3rd-5th June to attend Strathclyde University.

 

·         Congratulations to Mr John Harkins who completed the Liverpool Marathon in 4 hours 14 minutes and 58 secs.

 

·         The S2 Anne Frank Ambassadors shared their knowledge with Castleton Primary pupils on Thursday 5th June with Mrs Heffron.

 

·         The Duke of Edinburgh overnight expedition was completed safely and prepared the pupils well for the assessment expedition next week. All went very well apart from the dreaded midges. Miss McEwan is buying midge nets for the next trip.

 

·         Miss McEwan attended Glasgow ‘s celebrations of Sporting Achievements at the City Chambers on Wednesday 4th June with Toni McKay and Megan Donaghy, who received ‘outstanding sporting achievement’ certificates as well as the school receiving a trophy ‘Celebrating Leadership and Sport’.
