BYOL and Plant Sale for Croft Funds

This years’ S3 Int1 Biology class propagated and grew a variety of plants as part of their course work.

The pupils grew 83 plants over one and a half months. When discussing what to do with the plants, some pupils mentioned that they could be sold to raise money for the school croft.

Staff and colleagues from Gateway were invited to attend a “Pop-up staff lunch” in the library on Thursday 7th June. Staff were asked to “bring your own lunch (BYOL)” and some loose change.

Pupils served tea, coffee and cakes available for a small donation to the croft fund. The plants sold were beetroot, tomatoes, peas, Mexican hat plants, begonias, geraniums, heather and spider plants.

The vent raised £75 for the croft fund. The pupils were delighted to see a high turn out of staff and visitors. It was nice to have staff from different departments come together for lunch.

Well Done S3 INT1 Biology!
