 •Two groups of S2 pupils had the opportunity to visit the Jewish synagogue in Garnethill on Monday as part of their Holocaust topic accompanied by Mrs Heffron, Mr Dixon and Mrs Morgan.

•Three S4 pupils as part of the Indigo Group (an after school club in Castlemilk) attended a Social Investment Scotland conference on Thursday.  This included Dominique performing her rap in front of 260 people.

.•Mr Fraser received the following very pleasant feedback from the Advanced Higher Hub. “Two S5 pupils are working incredibly hard on their coursework for higher psychology, to the point they are ahead of the others in the class.  For this reason the college has given them directed study next Thursday 12th February to complete the research investigation.  They are an absolute delight to teach and have no concerns what-so-ever regarding their ability to complete this piece of work to a high standard.”

• S3  pupils represented the school at the Science Centre for the Glasgow Digital Makers technology master class on Monday with Mrs Quinn. Claire at Digital makers was very complimentary about our pupils on the day and in her email she says “ They were a great group to work with - both Martin and I were really impressed at their engagement and concentration.”

•Last Friday the S4 fundraisers held a non- uniform day, sold Valentines cards, held a cake sale, sold football cards and earned money from ‘clothes for cash’. Their planning and organisation was very impressive.. They raised £505.00 and then presented the cash to Mrs Stevenson. Well done to the girls who had been greatly motivated to fund raise.

•On Monday pupils who took part in last year’s programme at GCU (during exam leave for National 5 pupils) were offered the chance of one-to-one mentoring by students of the University with a view to helping them gain the best possible positive destination. The following pupils are involved.

•Mr Dixon’s  N4/5 class had a visit from the Islamic Society on Thursday to enhance their studies of the Islam unit in RMPS.

•Mr Gardener’s  S1 EC class. 1.3 had the opportunity to plant trees this week with the local countryside ranger. They helped plant some Rowan, Oak, Hazel and Hawthorn  in the Cathkin Braes

•Rehearsals for auditions for the school show -Disco Inferno- got underway on Wednesday and Thursday after school. There was a fantastic turnout from S1 to S6, all hopeful of a part.

•House Assemblies were held this week with a celebration of personal achievements including  100% attenders, a special focus on litter and captains’ update on House Council matters.

•Some pupils took part in  a sponsored silence (9.00am - 2.55pm) to raise money for their Uganda Humanitarian project.

•A reminder from Mr Munro that there is a race night on Friday 6th March at the White Elephant, tickets are £3 each towards funds for the Uganda excursion. Raffle donations welcome too.

 • Mrs King visited four S3 pupils I at Newlands Junior College.
