No Smoking Week

No Smoking Day: Wednesday 13th March 2013

No smoking day provides an opportunity for our school to raise awareness of smoking, the health risks associated with it, smoking related statistics and the pressure faced by young people to take up smoking and many more issues!

Castlemilk High registered to take part in the Smoke Free 4 Me, a NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde tobacco and prevention programme.

Our S1 pupils had had the opportunity to experience a range of tobacco related lessons over five departments (Drama, English, Science, IT and Social Subjects). Pupils were also encouraged to sign a pledge form, pledging not be a replacement smoker, in addition to participating in a competition by discovering how many tobacco related statements are displayed through the school. The winner will be picked on Friday 15th March.

To highlight the fantastic things going on in the school to raise awarenees of smoking day, an S1 assembly was held on Friday 8th March. A surprise visitor made an appearance at the assembly just to make sure pupils got the message!
