The Outward Bound Trust & Scottish Power Foundation

                                                       - Skills for Scotland's Future project

Scottish Power has set up a foundation to manage their charitable giving. This enabled twelve S2 pupils from Castlemilk High School, King’s Park Secondary School, St Margaret Mary’s and Holyrood High School to participate in a 5-day residential course from 10th – 14th March 2014.

The course had four main outcomes, and as a result all pupils

·         Started to develop key employability skills including team working, self- management, problem-solving, communication and goal setting

·         Improved self-awareness of their strengths and developed the confidence to make positive decisions

·         Increased their resilience and developed a growth mindset so they are more able to cope with life challenges and are willing to take more risks

·         Increased their understanding of how their actions have a consequence on their short and medium term future

The pupils stayed in the Outward Bound Centre based in Loch Eil, near Fort William.

The activities they experienced included hill-walking, canoeing, overnight camping and many problem-solving challenges.

The pupils from Castlemilk High School were

Jack McCrohon, Alex Kalbin, Andrew Gilmour, Jack McCuaig, David Grimmond,

Victoria Smith, Eve Campbell, Abbey Campbell, Angela Gavan, Taylor Campbell,

Scott Martin and Jonathan Matthews

They all had a great time and an extremely positive experience!
