mini news round week ending 28th March 2014.

Here is a mini newround for the week ending 28th March 2014.

 

·         As part of the PSE programme, S3 pupils watched a play by the Baldy Bane Theatre Company on Domestic Violence on Monday.

 

·         The S5/S6 Int2/Higher class left for their overnight stay at Samye Ling Buddhist monastery in Dumfries on Thursday with Mark and Nicola.

 

·         The S2 STEM Programme :  On Monday night in Trades House, Mr Ross and Mrs King attended a fantastic presentation by all of the pupils from the four schools who had participated in the Scottish Power Loch Eil experience.  Our twelve S2 pupils spoke well in front of an audience of around 100 people including our MP, MSP, Lord Provost, parents and staff. They spoke about their strengths and area for development and identified their skills for employment, resilience and positive mind set.

 

·         The Merchant’s House Prize Giving Ceremony was held at the City Chambers on Monday.  Caroline McKinlay, Michaela Hardie and Mary McKenna represented us. We won the overall award for creativity in Glasgow and were presented with 2 framed certificates and £700 !  This is in recognition of both Grease and Oklahoma. Well done to everyone involved, truly deserved and a great start to the week.

 

 

·         A team of staff and pupils are registered for the 5K Race on the 4TH May

 

·         Mrs Stevenson’s fundraiser for Greenburn takes place tonight at the Burnside Hotel. Staff support is fantastic- enjoy the evening.

 

·         The Prince’s Trust XL group were out all day on Thursday to take part in an adventure day with Fairbridge.  

 

·         The trees have arrived!  The gardeners are working extremely hard to prepare the ground for the trees to make sure that they are all planted before the weekend.
